The evidence that lifestyle contributes to health has grown significantly in recent years. This is demonstrated by the updated Knowledge Bundle of Scientific Evidence for Lifestyle Medicine, developed by Lifestyle4Health and the Lifestyle in Healthcare Coalition (Coalitie Leefstijl in de Zorg) in collaboration with experts from, among others, TNO, UMCNL (formerly NFU), LUMC, UMCG, GGZ Centraal, Radboudumc, Maastricht University, and the Dutch Patients Federation (Patiëntenfederatie Nederland).
The bundle shows that lifestyle interventions, such as changes in nutrition, physical activity, sleep, relaxation, and social connection, have a demonstrable positive effect on the treatment of chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, cancer, rheumatic conditions, mental health issues, and dementia.
